Dear friends of the Cuban Five:

We are urgently requesting your support to help win the right of Olga Salanueva, wife of René González, and Adriana Pérez, wife of Gerardo Hernández, to enter the United States for the purpose of visiting their husbands, who, as you know, are wrongfully imprisoned in the U.S. Olga and Adriana were recently denied entry visas for the third time.

Below is a sample letter to Colin Powell, Tom Ridge and John Ashcroft demanding the right of entry for these women. WE URGE SUPPORTERS TO SEND LETTERS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

As they wait for the appeals of the cases of the Cuban Five, which could take years, the families should not be denied the right to stay together. As a consequence of Olga's being denied entry, Ivette, their 5-year-old daughter, also cannot see her father René. She last saw her father when she was two years old. Adriana Pérez has not seen Gerardo in five years.

SAMPLE LETTER

Dear friends, we urge everyone to send letters and faxes to the following officials. Below is a brief sample letter; please add your own words as you wish. Dear Sirs,

I urge you to grant entry rights to:

  • Olga Salanueva, wife of René González, reg.#58738-004, who is currently in F.C.I. Edgefield, South Carolina, and to

  • Adriana Pérez, wife of Gerardo Hernández reg.#58739-004, who is currently in U.S.P Lompoc, California.

These women should be able to visit their husbands in the U.S. People around the world are aware of their cases and a growing movement is demanding justice for these Cuban prisoners in the U.S. and visitation rights for their loved ones. This is a simple matter of keeping families together.

Sincerely,

Zurück
